THE COLLEGE SEARCH As a certified educational planner, I stay current with colleges and universities through travel and membership in national organizations. Families use my service to learn of the variety of choices available to a student with a unique set of strengths, weaknesses and interests in academic, interpersonal and athletic areas. Each applicant is addressed in an individualized manner, and the following is typical of the college process, which may start as soon as the junior year of high school. The college search process includes the following: 1.Review of student’s school records and evaluation data
.An in-depth interview of the student and parents
.List of appropriate college and university options
.College search information re: campus visits, interviews, resume building, essay writing review, etc.
.Guidance during the college application process
.Help with the final school decision The process is slightly different when a transfer student is involved. Usually, we work only with the student and unless time is unimportant, the process is much quicker and more intense. A transfer candidate has already been through the admission process once, so we help the student with making a better college choice and a more appropriate one. However, if the parents would like to be involved initially, we are happy to include them in the process also. |
